It’s #TakeActionTuesday. Here’s what you can do to make a difference this week:

Prevent the defunding of community block grants. This includes but is not limited to Meals on Wheels. Community block grants also affect Head Start programs, community development, affordable housing and urban renewal. Call the following people and let them know you you oppose cuts to community block grants!

Representative Andy Harris: 202-225-5311
Senator Chris Van Hollen: 202-224-4654
Senator Benjamin L. Cardin: 202-224-4524

You can learn more about Meals on Wheels, donate or volunteer by clicking here.

We also want to prevent the elimination of Arts and Humanities programs. These programs make up a tiny fraction of the budget and include the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Again, those numbers to call are:

Representative Andy Harris: 202-225-5311
Senator Chris Van Hollen: 202-224-4654
Senator Benjamin L. Cardin: 202-224-4524

Locally, you can take the Harford County Housing and Community Needs Survey. This will let our government know what is important in regard to housing. You can take the survey here.

You can also sign the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s petition to urge congress to stand up for clean water in the Chesapeake Bay. Sign the petition here.

Thank you! We can’t wait to see how #TogetherWeWill stand up today!

The intention of #TakeActionTuesday is to provide one, simple, action you can take RIGHT NOW to preserve, strengthen, and grow the policies we believe in. Sometimes we will give more than one action, if it’s to do with the same issue.  Be sure to post your action in the comments below as well as on social media, tagging #TakeActionTuesday, #TWWhcuc and @TWWhcuc. This holds you accountable and gives motivation to those who might be in need of some. To see past #TakeActionTuesday actions, click on our tag #TakeActionTuesday in the right sidebar of this website.
